Description

Two burger bowls: seasoned ground beef over romaine with tomatoes, pickles, red onion and cheddar, drizzled with a tangy burger sauce.

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped dill pickles, plus 1/4 cup sliced dill pickles for the bowls
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • 1 teaspoon dill pickle juice
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 8 ounces ground beef (85% lean)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 cups chopped romaine lettuce (about 1 heart)
  • 1/2 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1/4 small red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, stir together the mayonnaise, ketchup, chopped pickles, mustard and pickle juice. Refrigerate while you cook.
  2. Heat the oil in a 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat. Add the beef and break it into small crumbles. Cook for 6 to 8 minutes, stirring now and then, until browned with no pink remaining and the beef reaches 160°F.
  3. Sprinkle in the garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper and stir for 1 minute. Spoon off any excess fat or tip it onto paper towels.
  4. Divide the romaine between two bowls. Top with the warm beef, tomatoes, sliced pickles, red onion and cheddar.
  5. Drizzle with the burger sauce and serve right away.
